OT: Visiting Sutton's

From: Damon Pham <dpham@ventureone.com>

Due to conflicts with work, I wasn't able to make the recent Regional 16/17
meeting.  However, I did manage to make a visit to the Sutton's place the
following weekend.  I now know what the pilgrims to Mecca must feel like.
Wow!

I couldn't believe my eyes.  Row upon row upon row of iris as far as you
could see.  Everything in bloom.  The guest beds and seedling beds were lots
of fun.  I walked around the display plots with the list of plants in hand.
Pencil primed to mark only the ones I really liked so I would know which
ones to choose from when I was ready to order.  Circles (for the ones I
liked) and Xs (next to the circles for the ones I really liked).  I tried to
attack the beds in order, but constantly found myself rushing to something
in another bed here or there that caught my eye.  2 hours of strolling
through the rows later I found my list looking more like the scorecard of a
wild and hot night the bingo hall.

I actually found myself liking a lot of things I had previously thought I
wouldn't like just based on the plant description.  Seeing things in person
really makes a difference.  The contrasting color combinations were also
insightful as well.  The rose bushes at the house are AMAZING!  Fragrant and
several had trunks bigger than my waist!  Really something to see.  I was
tempted to ask for a cutting of one of the roses bushes, but didn't want to
be rude.  Besides, this just gives me a reason to come back next year......

rainy and down right ugly all weekend)
