Re: OT: Visiting Sutton's

From: Mike00Rita@aol.com

Hi,
I also visited Sutton's after the convention. Hubby and I arrived the
Mon. just after and the bloom was better I was told.
Margaret was busy checking all the final corrections for the catalog,
George returned all the stuff rented or borrowed for the convention and Mike
had left after already putting in a full day at 3:30.
I saw iris I grow having a much easier life in CA, growing taller
as well as some I had not seen before. A visit to the seedling patch is
always fun.
What really got my attention was that those iris are growing in the
midst of the orange grove! Rows of iris amidst rows of orange trees? It just
baffles the mind to see LEARN blooming there in alkaline soil then drive 800
miles north to see that same variety in it's first bloom here in University
Place, WA amongst fir trees in acid soil. That is a real learning experience.

Looking forward to seeing Sutton's Catalog.
