Re: an average increase -- I grow only the bearded irises and there is a
huge difference in increase in this group alone.  I couldn't begin to guess
an *average* increase.  But, if the increase is limited, say, less than 5or
6,  I really watch how it does by the 2nd year.  I tend to be more concerned
with the 2nd year's increase. *Sometimes* the slower ones will sort of
catchup by then -- but this really doesn't occur with all.
