The order is:
Family - Genus - Species - Cultivar,
for instance:
Iris sibirica:
Family = Iridaceae
Genus = Iris
Species = Sibirica
then this is followed by X 'cultivar'
Daylilies are:
Liliaceae - Hemerocallis - eg. Fulva X 'Floro Pleno'
A book like the "Encyclopaedia Botanica' would be a useful reference.
