"Perfect" is a pretty high standard.<<
I'd wager that "perfect" has a different definition depending on who you ask.
Walter's perfect iris has to be able to show well and perform in the garden. His definition is probably the most stringent.
Dennis's perfect iris just has to bloom and set seeds while growing in a pot. :)
A neighbor's definition means any iris that will bloom in spite of years of neglect in an area of part shade and rampant quackgrass.
My definition of a "perfect" TB doesn't include the show bench. The closest show is an entire zone warmer so is over well before all but the dwarfs are budded up. Perfect irises here take abuse well. They'll bloom even if divided in the spring and even when summer lasts for only a month and a half. They won't show leaf spot or rot and won't topple in 40 mph winds. The best of them will increase and bloom even when mistakenly planted under a leaking downspout. :)
