AIS:FIRST CONVENTION

Hi All

I just want to express a great big THANKS to all of AIS, iris-talk, and the
Oklahoma Society for a wonderful, very memorable first convention for me.
Being a newby with Iris I learned a lot and found out that I have so much
more to learn!

It was great to be so warmly welcomed, be able to put so many faces with
names, and see so many beautiful gardens and Iris.

I've always felt I kind of knew all of you since joining the list about a
year ago, now knowing so many of you personally makes reading the posts even
better.  I read most posts in their entirety, except for the few getting so
deeply into genetics and hybridizing that they totally lose me.  Will be
glad when I've learned enough to read and understand them too.

I'm especially thankful to John Jones and Kathy Guest for putting together
the Geek dinner, as this really made it easy to find everyone from the list
that was there.  Kathy's nametags were very helpful in the days before the
dinner, but the dinner really pulled it together.

I'm already looking forward to Dallas y2k so I can meet more of you.

Everyone I met really treated me the greatest way possible, really made me
feel welcome even though most were total strangers in the beginning.
