It's a white diploid, introduced by Saunders in 1916, so it has some age on 
it and probably shows it. Basically it is a fragrant clear white self with 
some inconspicous markings.  By rare we mean HIPS doesn't have records of too 
many people growing it. Which does not mean others are not. I know one 
private individual in England that grows it, and it would not surprise me to 
find it on the Continent. 

My intuition is that it is probably going to be rather primitive for you, but 
if not much money is involved I encourage you to get a couple and see what 
you end up with. I'd also like to know what else the nurseryman is selling 
this year, iris-wise, and whether he grew them himself or wholesaled them in. 
And I'd like to know whether he will export to the USA. As I mentioned 
earlier,  I need WHITE KNIGHT for a restoration of a public garden for the 
National Park Service......and I was thinking it was going to come from Lowe.
