I. fulva "red" has bloomed a couple of days now, but not as profusely as
Bayou Short Stuff, which has been sending up flames for a week. Voodoo
Magic popped open today. Zowee!
Have patience, Dennis, I'm less than 200 miles south of you, but my
altitude (1,800 feet) probably places me only a couple of days behind.

Very late for cristata. The purples in the woods around here are almost
gone, and my albas are only putting out the odd bloom.
Neither are my siberians.
Too bad, the Siberian bloom here has been spectacular, beginning with huge
clumps of Flight of Butterflies and Caesar's Brother send about 20
waist-high bloom stalks per clump, then Lady Vanessa, Coronation Anthem,
Pink Haze, and all those other virtually interchangable purple and blue
Siberians, with only the slightest hint of difference in color and form.
They are just passing peak now as the Louisianas are beginning to bloom and
the Japanese are budding.
Oh how I hate to go to work in the morning!
I've been shooting over a roll of film per day in the past week, just to
record each variety in bloom.
Some of the earlier ones are on my web site at:

Although garden work has left the Mystery Iris feature far behind. More
will be coming.
