I. lactea opened its first bloom here today. Other than a handful of SDB's
(none of which has opened more than a single flower), it is the only iris
in bloom at present.
After weeks of well-below-normal-temperatures, it abruptly warmed up
yesterday, and seems to be headed on the same trend at least through the
weekend. It looks like there will be a highly compressed bloom season here,
as there are stalks in every class of bearded iris (except MDBs) showing
color in the bud.
