During the HIPS meeting in OKC, there was a slide show of many historic
Iris, and also the persons judging the flowers--and it seems to be true
what Jim said about the Judges being men then--there were several pictures
of Mr.----'s house and garden, and several of the judges there--dressed as
Jim described-- and nary a woman in sight!!!!! Compared to how men dress
now-a-days to visit gardens--the old men were certainly over-dressed!!!
This is an interesting theory, and one which could be proven, by going
through the old Bulletins--if they contain the yearly lists of judges--and
seeing how many were men and how many were women!!!!
Another theory--many men are color-blind--and the color they see is not the
same as non-color-blind persons--so who knows what color they were voting
for??? (Some men are color blind and do not realize it--and it twas us
women who gave it to them!!!!!)
Carryl in western Montana Zone 3/4 where we are having light showers and
more SDB bursting forth every day!!!!!
