Below is a paragraph I pasted here from an AIS webpage Bulletin (thanks
Maureen Mark for your reference). I am curious where one may find these
ten-year Check Lists (beginning 1939) and annual Registrations and
Introductions booklets (beginning 1990). Are these lists posted on the web?
I am curious to know approximately how many named irises there are.
2. At the same time, select a name which has not previously been used and
submit it for approval. To determine availability of name, please refer to
all ten-year Check Lists (beginning 1939) and annual Registrations and
Introductions booklets (beginning 1990). Please also suggest alternate
names. A name is not registered until the registration application has been
completed and approved and a certificate of registration returned to you.
I could also use a little help with my vocabulary. I'm sure this will all
be cleared up once I read a few of these books that have been recommended
to me, but in the meantime, what is the proper way to talk about several
different TB with different names? I know they are not species. Are they
types, cultivars, varieties, etc.
Thanks,
John
