Yes, Betty, it was a beautiful recollection of memories. I tried to
remember my earliest awareness of loving iris. I think it was when my mom
took me about 5 miles up the road during the summer vacations to visit with
a neighbor who's garden grew so well. My mom would tell me it was because
the neighbor grew things in aged manure...the garden soil was so soft,
moist, and rich looking. I remember the columbines growing so high you
could look them straight in the eye! That neighbor had iris, which my mom
loved, and many of them eventually ended up in my mom's yard. They were
special, and some of those oldies were the only green thing that moved with
me every time I moved. Once you start moving iris, you never seem to quit.
