Try using a good dusting of slaked lime.   Works for me and if repeated
annually, keeps the moss from coming back and also seems to benefit the
irises.  Mosses usually like acid soil, so that's how the lime works.  Iris
(bearded) don't like acid soil and extra calcium is good for them.
