  Yes, Linda, I have those problems, but from differnt causes.  The only trouble I have with frozen stalks is on rebloomers that try to do it in January.  My irises produce many deformed stalks, usually do to pineappling, the cause of which I do not yet understand.  The bed that I described has no pineappling.  It is rampant in my guest bed.

  Dried buds and discolored flowers are frequent among the late varieties here because of the heat.  I have never seen a decent blossom on Dusky Chanllenger.  I won't order any iris described as late, but I occasionally get some anyway as gifts and prizes.
