Probably not really relevant to this line of thought, but I can produce
seed on 'Eleanor Roosevelt'. It produces very few pods with very few
seeds, but the seeds look good. I have not germinated any yet. The same
tends to be true of some of the other old Sass IB's that I have, and I. x
germanica clones.
Also, while I haven't tried to go back through and look critically, and I
suspect that often the early ancestry of many cultivars is obscure at least
in part, I also suspect that if there is any of the dwarf blood in the
reblooming TB's, it might be buried way back in the ancestry of most modern
clones. Also, there could be easily more than one reason (i.e. other
lines of ancestry) for reblooming to occur, and I'm sure it occasionally
occurs just out of the blue.
It was just a thought, perhaps totally wrong, but I thought worth
considering.
