Gee, I seem to have struck a nerve comparing spurias to dutch iris. I prefer
wide falls like on most of the modern TB's. To me, the form of the spurias is
very similar to that of a dutch iris, although admittedly (except for the
blue-purples) the colors are often more intense and the patterns are more
variable. They are much larger taller, and multi-budded than dutch iris, but
with TB's the larger flowers need (and usually have) more ruffles to look
their best. Compared to TB's, spurias are strappy and "tailored". If you
like that, fine, but the discussion was on why most people (including myself)
prefer TB's. There are always people that have more specialized taste.
Besides, "a lot of people seem to like it" doesn't make it right. I'd hate to
think there's something wrong with me if I don't like Ding-Dongs, Hello Kitty,
or tobacco products.
John Reeds (not Jones) (don't blame him) (he didn't say it) (okay?)
