Re: HYB: Complementary White Carotenoid Genes in SDB

Thanks for reposting here Chuck. Archives for the photos group are still not working.

Although it's a race with my aging brain, more and more of this stuff is a little easier for me to remember/understand.

I had to refresh my memory on the meaning of RRA & found this post in the archives from our departed friend Neil.

......Irises like this are
"dominant whites" which in TWOI are discussed under "RRA"--flowers with
reduced anthocyanin for any one of several different reasons.
Could you say a little more about Blyth's RRA work? Were you referring to their SDBs or to TBs as well? I'm trying to incorporate genes from their TBs into my tough rebloom lines, especially those yummy 'umbrata' combinations. Have they worked mostly with one type of reduced anthocyanin or all kinds or is there any generalization you'd care to make?

They sure have come out with some different colors - hard to believe the primary/only anthocyanidin is delphinidin in all of the petals with any blue tint.

Blyth works a lot with RRA
