Anyone from Bluegrass reading this? If you can't help her can you pass this on to others in the club? Call someone for her? She's one of our iris friends/hybridizers from Owensboro KY. <<Good memory Betty, I am in the Lexington area.... lol, I thought that was my hout out to the Lexington iris society. Like the ideas about finding groups to work with... especially the university dea...not enough of my seedlings are actually flattie seedlings...but it would reak my heart to see the 05-119 cross go unexplored. In the preliminary investigations of the "public housing" settings I keep seeing the term "landscaped yards" which suggests to me that tilling ground might be rohibited, but I'm definitely going to ask. The other thought I have had is to ship my seedlings "home" to Colorado where my parents could ignore them for me. well, the good news is that land may not sell quickly, owners may have change of heart... who knows. Hopefully, I'll have enough time... to do whatever. christiatn>> Betty Wilkerson Bridge In Time Iris Garden KY Zone 6 - ----Original Message----- From: christian foster <flatnflashy@yahoo.com> To: iris <iris@hort.net> Sent: Mon, Nov 22, 2010 7:30 pm Subject: Re: [iris] What a loss.. well, not really Good memory Betty, I am in the Lexington area.... lol, I thought that was my hout out to the Lexington iris society. There was a huge iris group here. Connect with the club or make a public appeal as Paul suggests and I'm ure someone there could step up and help you. t least save your favorite dozen seedlings or so! When I "quit" irises, I aved just enough seedlings to fill a 3 x 40 ft bed, but they were the heart f my breeding program when I started back. Best Wishes for better years. It will get better. First we moved, in February, then they nguished in their wal-mart bags for months because my husband had heart rgery. Finally, most of them got planted, but by then the dry part of summer d set in, and it didn't start raining again until after the first frosts. ow, we have gotten the word that the property we are renting is to be sold. r situation is dire, so we will be applying for public housing. I don't hink here's going to be anywhere for any irises, much less my seedlings and ntinuing efforts at hybridizing. his leaves me with a question. What can I do with the irises and seedlings at I do have? Burning would be the most efficient, I'm sure, but I don't ink I have an appropriate burn site. ny ideas? ristian -------------------------------------------------------------------- sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the ssage text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS --------------------------------------------------------------------- o sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the essage text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS --------------------------------------------------------------------- o sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the essage text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS
