Judy: The Dykes Medal Winner Game is a powerpoint presentation of Dykes Medal Winners. Each Dykes winner has its own separate slide with a brief discussion of the iris, its hybridizer or brief tidbits on the goals of the hybridizer at that time. It is not an essay but it is in short paragraph form which would be good for a brochure. I think the AIS store front still has it. It should be current up to 2007 or 2008. That reminds me that I have to add the last four winners to the game. The game is played similar to Bingo with the Dykes medal winner pulled randomly by the powerpoint presentation. The game comes with the cards (in pdf format) to play. It is a good filler at the regional convention. I orginally scheduled two games. You can add games or remove games (10-15 minutes long) depending upon whether the schedule is running fast or slow. The winner gets an iris as a prize. By the way does anyone have a good picture of Paul Black (the iris not the man) that I can add to the presentation as well as any interesting very short stories about Tom Johnson (the man not the iris) suitable to go on a Dykes Medal slide? We are in the process of designing a brochure which briefly explains the award. We would like to include an essay about the changes in iris form and color over the years, which can be observed in the Dykes iris. Does anyone know of such an article? Thank you.
