Hello Dave,

      If you want to stick with true irises, Louisiana irises would be your best choice in south Florida. Iris savannarum (or I. hexagona var. savannarum if you prefer) occurs well south into Florida, so I would think odds are good you could get reliable bloom in your heat, humidity, and lack of vernalization. Some cultivars may not do well, especially maybe those with lots of fulva genetics, but I bet you could find some good ones with a little trial and error.
