This is getting interesting! In the preface of the 1989 R&I there is a
list of symbols and abbreviations used throughout the Check List. There
isn't any abbreviation for those iris indigenous to the Pacific Coast.
However within the Check List those iris are labeled as "CA". It seems
as if this iris is in need of a standard abbreviation. I'll see if I
can contact one of the officers of the Society for Pacific Coast Native
Iris and get them to resolve this, if they can.
I'll report back.
