AIS Bulletins arrived in our area different days for different Zips! St.=
Louis County friends received theirs mid-week, we got ours today! We h=
ad
a glorious Kirkwood Iris Society meeting/Thanksgiving Pheast yesterday
complete with turkey and fixin's, Low Ho Silver, Coral Charmer, Lichen,
Duke of Earl, Autumn Tryst, Lady Emma and about a dozen more. Some in ou=
r
area have not yet had a killer frost like we did two weeks ago. Maybe ne=
xt
year there will be enough of them for a mini-show of Rebloomers.
Region 18 Bulletin Editor is Nancy Barnum, 3030 N. Pierce, Springfield, M=
O
65803 - we have 18 affiliates, two bulletins a year (I'm snail-mailing yo=
u
my copy, Kathy), lots of Judges Training/Iris Show news as many affiliate=
s
send their calendar of events. There are many articles about local garde=
n
tours, Youth news, minutes of Board Meetings, reprints of past articles
about hybridizers, reprints of articles from "The Iris Fan" (Youth
Bulletin). Our Region covers Kansas and Missouri with Illinois close by
and many visitors to our functions from OK. Region 18 is fifty years old=
and pleased to have two successful "School Projects" with 112 new Youth
members from Marquette High School this year and 40 last year from South=
View School (Elementary with many disabled kids and a flourishing 10 X 40=
Iris bed). We are thrilled with the response.
Those of you going to the Denver Convention, watch for the "Youth Iris Fa=
n"
T-shirts with the winning coloring contest pciture as a Youth Fund Raiser=
=2E =
ALSO, don't forget to submit your nominating letter (any member can do
this) for the Clarke Cosgrove Youth Achievement Award to Jean Morris
before the holidays - details in the "just received" AIS Bulletin. Let's
give these kids a pat on the back!
And, yes Rusty, I think that project would make a great program.
Enjoy the re-bloom - winter arrived here tonight again.
