Bulletin

I hope you all had a very happy Thanksgiving, without too much of the usual
recriminations afterward (I myself am having recriminations. Pass the
celery).

I haven't been on much lately, due to a messy msn upgrade, a crummy server
in Denver requiring long-distance calls to get the mail, and trying to get
used to this new mail program. But I'm baaaaack, and I'll bet I can even
get pictures in my e-mail now. Maybe.

I finally got my copy of the Bulletin on the 22nd--better late than never.
Great issue! If anybody missed Tom's excellent article on the fertile
families, go back and find it--it's an encouraging read for anybody dabbling
in hybridizing the other classes than TBs. I do have to say that Thornbird
has never looked like the cover in my garden--never so pastel. It usually
is much deeper in all the colors, and the horns have always been short and
deep purple. Well, that just shows how much our garden conditions affect
the flowers.

Barb in Santa Fe, where I took the opportunity of 2 nice days to plant a
flock of bulbs and to plant many iris seeds, in pots this year. It's
another experiment!
