Re: Cult:cover crops


Alfalfa is an excellent cover crop often used on vegetable gardens.
Farmers fequently alternate alfalfa with corn or small grain crops.  I seem
to remember reading that Schreiners' Gardens uses alfalfa at least some of
the time on their fallow iris fields.  Alfalfa hay is very highly regarded
as animal feed and compost material.

And of course we have all the information we need about alfalfa
pellets--except--have there been any really controlled experiments using
them on irises?
