I have iris unguicularis growing on the east side of the house in shade.
It's in a bed with astilbe, hosta and fern and is doing very well there.
Began blooming last year in December and continued on nice days into early
March. I hope it repeats the performance, as last winter was the third
year. It was slow to start, but bloomed in February the 2nd year. I
should think it would do very well in Florida's climate, based on my
experience while living in coastal Texas below Houston, but have nothing
but a guess to back that up.
