Hello, all:
Thot I'd post this FYI. Just recently received the newest catalog from
Rocky Mtn Rare Plants -- in spite of the name, they sell only seeds,
including some very tasty alpines &/or natives. You can check them out
online at http://www.rmrp.com/ This is a Colorado company located in the
plains in Franktown, between Denver & Colo. Springs.
Included this year are the following irises: I. chrysographes 'Deep
Plum' (hand pollinated); I. cycloglossa; I. lactea; I. missouriensis; I.
setosa v. nana & I. sibirica ex. 'Flight of Butterflies'. All come from
garden-grown plants except for the I. missouriensis & the I. setosa v.
nana -- the entry for that doesn't note the source. Packet prices range
from $2.50 to $4.00. (I've still got some I. missouriensis seeds which I
will send for an SASE to any who want some but missed the previous
offers of these. E-mail me privately if interested.)
Tis funny -- until this past summer I'd never even seen a seed pod on
any kind of iris let alone thot seriously of growing them from seeds.
Now I've collected from TBs, SDBs & the wild & have seed pots all sown,
hopefully primed to germinate this spring. Now, if only the seedlings do
well...
