The plant might have been destroyed by the Iris Borer. Sandy is
correct in the following:

Be sure to spray the rhizomes directly.
In Kentucky, the Blackberry Lily was susceptible to the Iris Borer,
but it was not infested any worse than the TB Irises were. As with Irises,
sanitation helps.
