OT-BIO Gena

hello everyone,

my name is gena and i live in apex, n.c.  i am just getting started with
iris.  i have been a landscape painter for 25 years and a serious gardener
for 2.  before that i tended existing gardens of old houses i lived in.  2
years ago my husband, myself and our baby moved into a brand new house
without so much as a blade of grass, and hard packed clay instead of soil.

the transition from moonscape to sumptuous garden is going very well.  i
garden much like i paint, instictively, relying on my feelings about form
and color.  i have been checking out stacks of books, and have started to
form a base knowledge that is making this process a great deal easier.

i was introduced to this list by a very generous person i met on the garden
web (thank you patricia!) and was very generous to trade some of my
daylillies for her reblooming iris.  i was very fortunate to find a couple
of other iris collectors there who have traded some of the plants i already
grow for divisions of their iris as well.

so now i'm on my way!  i look forward to reading the posts, and hope i don't
sound too ridiculous at times (i'm not one to shy away from asking a stupid
question :)
