Dear Jack It is good to welcome someone else who could have voted for
Lincoln - altho with a Southern mother, I probably would not have! I was
reading another welcome letter to you where "a discussion about ROSALIE FIGGE
which is a rebloomer in this zone (4) a couple of days ago" I was a little
startled and had to reread the letter and then realized they were talking
about the iris and not ME - you see I am Rosalie Figge (herself) and I am
glad to say that there reports in the Rebloomer Checklist of its rebloom from
zones 4 to 10. And others in Canada have told me of it blooming in their
garden, which is nice to hear -I am finishing my third year as President of
the Reblooming Iris Society and the Hybridizer of RF was someone I had
encouraged in her iris work and she had insisted on naming this iris for me -
I think it is more helpful for the name to give a hint of what it looks like
or how it does, etc. But I suggest you try rebloomers next year, but be
sure they rebloom in your area and not just on the WestCoast. It would help
to join RIS - and get the CHECKLIST - both available from the membership
chairman as listed in the SECTIONS LIST in the AIS BULLETIN. My idea if y ou
enjoy iris once, why not again? I'll probably be "silent" for awhile after
this letter because I have to get ready to go to the AIS Board Meeting,
which I may do as president of RIS - no vote, but I can talk! ryfigge@aol.com
