Re: Louisiana Iris seed

From: Stephen Hopkins <watergarden@hargray.com>

Months ago Heather and/or Patrick mentioned planting LA seed as soon as the pod
begins to turn instead of waiting until they have broken open and the seed have
turned brown. I believe they said the seed would sprout before winter.

I promptly harvested all my seed and set them to sprout in moist towels.
Waiting... waiting... waiting... maybe I picked them too early... maybe I should
put them in the ground... waiting... some of the seed have become soft... maybe
they will all be ruined... maybe all that work was for nothing...

First one sprouted today. Whew! Thanks for the great tip ya'll.

Do LA seed need light or dark to sprout? I do not know what it is inside those
moist towels.
