I think that sounds lovely Dr. Z! Big fluffy blue flounces! Maybe it will
smell like ENGLISH COTTAGE!

I see what you mean about using irises which, while splendid in themselves, do
not embody the most current advances. I believe one of the pieces of advice
usually given to new hybridizers is to use the most modern and excellent
things, and that makes very good sense. I mean, why reinvent the wheel if
forward is where you are going. 

But curiosity might lead me to do it anyway some time. I envision a chalk
white ground and standards, warming to a pale bronze wash on the falls,
deepening and becoming more rich around a central area of violet texture
veining, long violet horns.....

Of course, if I got such a thing it would probably manage to smell like low
tide or something.....
