I have seen iris pseudacorus growing in ponds and streams of southern England,
also here and there in Europe without comment on it's being uncontrollable.

In the colder parts of our country, zone 4 where I am located, I have never
seen any stands outside of cultivated areas.  Where you can achieve a natural
looking stand this iris seems to remain in shallow water.

I have two white forms in my garden which are vigorous and tall.  They are a
focal point, as a shrub might be,  and long blooming.

This iris is grown in temperate lands everywhere and I have never seen it
referred to as a pest.  A casual thought thrown out might be that since it has
been grown for many years in all parts of the US it would be adjudged a weed,
if so, by now.
