Well that's just fantastic! I am very glad to hear that, indeed. And now
I've got a follow-up question and request.

The request: can we get AIS to specify the names of the species for these
new awards when they put them in the bulletin. For example, the only
reason I knew Marvell Gold was I. fulva is that I have it in my own garden.

The question: what are the species that won the Awards of Merit & Honorable
Mentions this year? The bulletin only lists the cultivar and hybridizer.

Award of Merit - Species
LITTLE RHYME (M. Schafer / J. Sacks)
MARJAN (H. Bishop)

Award of Merit Runners Up - Species
CASCADE CREME (L. Reid)
MARVELL GOLD (J. Waddick) - I know this one! Iris fulva, yellow form,
        collected in Arkansas, I think.

Award of Merit - Interspecies Hybrids
PARTY PALEFACE (L. Reid)
DIMITY BUTTERFLY (L. Reid)

Honorable Mention - Species
GORDONVILLE CREAM (D. Niswonger)
KING CLOVIS (E.&B. Tankesley-Clark)
SUN CASCADE (T. Huber)

Honorable Mention - Interspecies Hybrids
ROYAL DOLLY (L. Reid)
CASCADE VELVET (J. Halinar)

And finally, assuming these all had to have been officially introduced into
commerce to be eligible for the awards, who the heck sells them?
