Re: CULT: nematodes

From: Linda Mann <lmann@icx.net>

Thanks for the lecture Bill. Fascinating stuff.

Of course I want to go right out there and see what kinds of nematodes
are around my irises :>) Got time for another lecture about how to
extract nematodes from soil and what the diagnostic differences are
amongst some/any of the species/genera are?

Some research has shown that no-till agriculture (somewhat comparable to
mulched, untilled garden beds) tends to shift from bacterial to fungal
populations of critters that chew up organic matter. Your story of
little lassos on the fungi makes me wonder if that might also contribute
to the benefits of 'new ground' to irises.

Wonder how many species of nematodes are in the Garden's Alive!
beneficial nematodes product?
