Christopher: I just use the ordinary cool light bulbs that one might use in any room in the house. The Gro-lux bulbs are expensive, as someone else noted, and they are unnecessary for just growing plants. They are only important if one wants to have flowering plants under the lights. Just for starting things, or if you grow foliage plants, Gro-lux is unnecessary.
