I suspect a mixup in labels, but have a bloomstalk on a plant labeled
ANNA BELLE BABSON. I do have ABB and it is more or less where this
plant was growing (before I slapped it in a pot and brought it indoors
so I can see it bloom in spite of the freeze predicted).
I checked the archives and found a note in 1998 from Anner Whitehead
saying it was reported to rebloom in Oz and another note saying
Schreiner's catalog listed it as a rebloomer, but also notes from
others (including John Jones) saying it was unlikely to rebloom in the
south in response to another person with mixed up labels.
Sooo, I will know soon enough, but am curious as to whether others have
seen it rebloom?
Also potted up a clump of NORTHWARD HO with one stalk finished blooming
and 4 more corkscrew stalks in bud, one clump of FEEDBACK with two
stalks, and another one I've mixed up the labels on. I think this is a
Sutton intro, but will have to wait till it opens to figure out which
one.
This has been a bad (good?) season for corkscrew/gooseneck stalks here.
The only unusual weather event was some fairly cold weather a few weeks
ago (40s F). Would that be enough to do it? Or maybe uneven drying in
the row after scanty rainfall?
Linda Mann east Tennessee USA zone 7/8
record lows forecast for the next few evenings and possibility of snow
flurries. Good grief! What happened to global warming?
