Re: CULT: compost tonnes vs volume

My short bed, 1/2 ton Toyota pickup truck bottoms out on the springs
when I get a heaping load of local mushroom compost if it's the used
stuff which is fairly wet. That pretty well fills the bed, but isn't
heaped up.

The dump the fresh stuff out of a hopper into the truck until they can't
pile on anymore and I still have some clearance.

Now if we only knew how much volume that is or how many tons the truck
can carry before the springs bottom out and could convert from tonnes to
tons....

Based on loads that my old Ford 1/2 ton pickup could carry before
bottoming, I would say it will probably hold somewhere between 2000 and
3000 lbs. If nobody else can help with this, I'll try to guess closer
for you, but the moisture content and how tightly packed the stuff is
will have a huge effect.
