HYB:Side Branch Anomaly

I have been meaning to ask for input on this subject for some
time now but have been waiting to observe the plant in question for
another bloom season.
A yellow bi-tone seedling I have is introduceable in every way, I
think, except for the fact that a bud on a side branch always
blooms before the terminal bud.
I also see this happening on two old-timers still in the garden -
GOING MY WAY and SPINNING WHEEL but can't remember
seeing this on newer things as a persistent fault. Sometimes,
adverse weather conditions may cause it, but regardless of the
weather, it always happens with this seedling and frequently on the
named irises above. The problem disappears usually two days
later when the terminal bud blooms and balance/proportion are
restored to the stalk.
Is this fault serious enough for me to toss the seedling?
I will find out next spring if the fault is passed along when
seedlings from it bloom. If it does, then I think the fault is serious
enough for me to discard the seedling without further question, but I
still would like to know your opinions about a side branch bud
blooming before the terminal.
Thanks!
