HELLO ALL,
Linda was talking about and lamenting her slow germination process. One of the things we love about this hobby(obsession) is the very quick results we get .Make a cross, plant the seeds in Nov., germination in the spring, maiden bloom the following spring ,like clockwork! ( one iris had it's maiden bloom the same spring it germinated, that coming fall. We took it to a meeting in Nov. and have witnesses!!!)
You may be barking up the wrong tree!! ( keep wet , sun or shade etc.) How about considering the planting medium you are using?
I have mentioned this potting soil before and through experiencing great results consistently wanted to share it again.( great results with whatever we put in it!)

We harvest our seeds when pods start to crack. Place in paper cups in the garage until Nov. Plant 3/4 of an inch in the potting soil in Nov.( one gallon pots) Water and keep moist and in full sun all winter. The seeds come up in Feb. Probably not all of the seeds come up but too many for us to handle!!!!
Hope this is of some help to you as you did sound a little frustrated. It's worth a try !!

First snow is usually in Nov.LOWEST TEMP, ABOUT 20 DEGREES
Turkeys ran through seedling patch and completely broke off a fan of CHASING RAINBOWS X FASHION STATEMENT.
I was so upset as I think this cross will result in a very nice iris!! I looked closely at the broken fan only to notice a miniscule little "hot spot" left on the rhizome. I planted it again and sure enough it is now growing!!
Fence is back around seedling patch even though I don't like it!!
