Re:CULT:Dwarf/Danfordia

When reading other's replies to the questions about Dwarf/Danfordias, what
happens to my bulbous Iris is different from others--Some of my Danfordia
clumps (yes--clumps--about 8-9" across) have been in place at least 10
years--and every year I think about removing some of the newer bulbs and
making the clumps smaller--but never seem to get to that--I have yellow, and
a very dark blue--which bloom gloriously every spring--sometimes right
through the snow--along with the Crocus--about 5-6 years ago I found a good
buy on yellow ones--so have smaller clumps of them--they not only did not
die out--but are quite happily multiplying--with no special treatment from
me..
As for the Dutch Iris--I usually get bloom one year--and they are
gone--maybe my climate is too harsh for them--I have tried protecting them
with mulch, planting them in sheltered spots--and anything else I can think
of--and they have not likes any of what I have done, and bloom, then just
die off-- And if they make it to the next year, no blooms appear--just
leaves--
Their colors are so pretty, that I keep buying them over and over--if anyone
has some special 'gardening secrets' for keeping them more than one
year--please share the secrets with me--and I will gladly try them.

Carryl in western Montana zone 3/4 today we are 4--with rain, lots of
wind, and cold--the mountains around us are now snow-covered--pretty at this
time of year!!!
