Re:REB: Sparse rebloom VA, TX, TN, UT

Hmm - well, maybe we don't have many cultivars that thrive in all these
places, but at least some/most of our rebloomers pooped out this year
across a wide range of growing conditions/climates. :<

We had frequent rains during the summer this year - much more moist
growing conditions than the last couple of years, plus I was really
soaking the rebloomers once a week. Some of those that are multiple
rebloomers (IMMORTALITY, BELVI QUEEN, SUMMER GREEN SHADOWS) responded
with two flushes of rebloom, but the fall only rebloomers (HARVEST OF
MEMORIES, ROSALIE FIGGE, GOLDEN ENCORE, seedlings) didn't start trying
till much later, and most of them (TEA LEAVES, CLARENCE, SIGN OF LEO &
BABY BLESSED (the last two usually multiple rebloom here), plus several
others whose names I can't think of right now that are only occasional
rebloomers here) didn't bother to try at all.

Humidity stayed high all summer, & Mike Sutton has posted that he's
noticed that when they have high humidity, rebloom is less abundant, but
somehow, I doubt it was humid in Utah this summer.

We had no summer (August) cold/cool spell this year. How about the rest
of you? I remain suspicious that cool (cooling?) soil temperatures
triggers rebloom initiation for fall only rebloomers. & nighttime temps
do get lower when humidity/dew point is lower. A rare event here in the
summer, but usually happens at least once.

Not very useful insight, unless, along with the giant propellors Neil M
suggested to stir the air to help prevent late freeze damage here, I
install giant cooler/dehumidifiers for the summer garden.

Are there any listers who grow irrigated rebloomers in a desert climate
where temperatures aren't extreme? Like maybe a mid-elevation South
American equatorial mountain desert? Or maybe Kilamanjaro? <g>
