Re: Re: TB: REB: seedling & PBF.

Linda,

I have also many first year seedlings with multiple increases on them
and noticed that the mother rhizome was only the size of a quarter.
Because of the multiple increases I'm assuming that they'll bloom next
year or else I`ll be in BIG trouble because I planted my seedling 4 to 6
inches apart.

One thing I noticed from my crosses is that I have lots of PBF coming
through the pollen parent side. For example , half of my BABBLING BROOK
x THORNBIRD seedlings have very nice PBF, actually much more pronounced
than that of THORNBIRD. A cross of HONKY TONK BLUES x BLACK OUT has
also yielded exactly 50% PBF seedlings.

Can PBF be a recessive trait that comes through the pod parent even
though the pod parent does not have it ?

I'm wondering what I'm going to do with my 42 CHAMPAGNE ELEGANCE x LENT
A WILLIAMSON ( old ultra floppy )seedlings from a fertility test. I'm
almost afraid to see them bloom but I planted the seedlings out anyway
to complete this long cycle that I'm just dying to get a handle on in
this climate of zone 4b Lafontaine Quebec.

DO you cut the fans back of first year seedlings before the freeze
knocks them over ? Will you protect these little rhizomes somehow ?
