Speaking of spelling in general, instead of in reaction to anyone's
message, it might be an okay time to say that, having been a copy
editor most of my life, the common error that irritates me most is
the confusion of its and it's. Which is pretty easy to remember:
It's is a shortened form of it is. Without the apostrophe is the
possessive its. Its form, its branching....
So now I've said it. Call me compulsive. Thirty years of dealing
with so common an error takes ITS toll.
