Bill,
Actually, those are killifish that they are looking at. It is well known
that a species can vary in coloration, and some other minor details, from
population to population. These fish live in small bodies of water, and do
not have any interaction between populations, even those 100 yards apart. I
may be able to see the full article at a client site tomorrow as I know they
subscribe to the publication.

Steve,
I visited the site and registering as a visitor. Since I am not a member I
could not gain access to the full text. The statistical correlation in the
abstract is interesting. The fallacy I perceive from the abstract, perhaps
wrongly, is that variations are being measured among natural populations so
the author may be measuring gene mutation from external forces (e.g.,
chemical contamination) rather than variations in non mutated gene
expression.
Thanks for the information,
Bill Burleson
