As seems to be the case every time any of us tries an experiment,
results aren't uniform....
So far, only 3 crosses of the seeds that were put into the fridge for
two months without prior drying/soaking have germinated. All three
involve pinks & rebloomers.
Seeds from one cross ripened at a time when I got a little behind on
getting them into the fridge, so they were dried for three days before
nicking seed coats and putting them into fridge/burritos.
One seed from the same cross also just germinated in the pot outdoors
where it was planted at the same time as its fellow podlings went into
the fridge. It baked in the heat (highs in the 90s, lows in the 60s &
70s) for the same two months the others were in the fridge! Got soaked
by a LOT of rain and my watering the pots when it didn't rain. So, for
at least some of the seeds from this cross, pre-treatment didn't seem to
have any effect - when temps were right (overnight lows in the 50s),
they germinated. I'll double check, but I think this was HARVEST OF
MEMORIES X OCTOBER SPLENDOR.
Most annoying - nothing with these ^54#@! irises is predictable! <g>
So, do some of these rebloom genes go along with lack of some
germination inhibitors/mechanisms? Or is it the pink genes? <g>

the line) - I got to walk near the Hiwassee Refuge with the Knoxville
zoo folks & a European Eagle Owl (wow!), Barn Owl, & had a chat with
Einstein, the African Gray Parrot. What a charmer <g>
