To control soft rot Don and Ginny Spoon recommend
1 TBS antibacterial hand soap or dish soap with Triclosan, 1 TBS
water soluble fertilizer in 2 gallons of water.
I have not added fertilizer to the mix, but it would be a shot in the
arm to a sick plant. Some people use straight soap squirted on or
about the rhizome.
I keep a small empty bottle by the gardens, to which I add a shot of
Dial or Ultra Dawn plus enough water to fill the bottle, and squirt
the rhizome and adjacent soil.
