My garden goal is to have a few dozen cultivars that are
carefree, profuse reliable bloomers, that make clumps that don't have to
be dug, divided, and replanted every year or so to keep blooming. In
other words, modern 'flags'.
Linda: For me, the most prolific and trouble-free "garden plants" (not selected for beauty) are Pagan Pink, Stingray (reblooms constantly), Dawning, Stage Lights, Innocent Star, Epicenter, Progressive Attitude, Touch of Mahogany, and Persian Berry. I am having great luck with Louisa's Song, but it doesn't increase as fast as those others. Society Page is unusually rot-resistant for a pink; it is a very pale true "shell" pink.
