Re: HYB: Seeing red


We should know that all the work done at Oregon University, from tissue 
culture to gene transfer to named varieties (if any) will be under patent. Indeed 
the red gene itself has been patented, so it is doubtful other hybridizers will 
have permission to use it in breeding. Perhaps gene transfer has reached the 
point where it could be done in the kitchen, or at least a modest home lab.
