Re: HYB: rebloom and roots


It makes sense to me that the ones with the best root system would be the ones most likely to be able to rebloom, regardless of whether they carry the genes for it.

The plants with the biggest root system, both those long thick roots that can go down a couple of feet here plus the fibrous shallow roots, are definitely the most tolerant of erratic weather here.

<As for Sincerely Yours x Star Gate, two pods produced 71 seed.  Only 5
sprouted the first year. One had a huge root system when I planted it. It is the rebloomer. The huge root system at planting time seems to be significant.
It bloomed that fall, the next spring and had a  stalk when the freeze hit
last fall and another when the freeze  hit this past spring. >
