Another seedling from HARVEST OF MEMORIES X RENOWN opened a bloom today - horrible form - will post a photo once it's fully open.
But it has tangerine beard in the throat (I soaked it in rubbing alcohol to be sure). ! ?
I have gotten t beards from HOM X pinks now and then, so I know HoM carries tangerine factor. RENOWN has given some yellows from RENOWN X pinks, only two or three yellow seedlings so far, & none with any tangerine showing on the beard. At least none I've noticed.
So this was a surprise to me. Have any of you gotten or heard of getting tangerine beards from RENOWN?It's not much - just the third of the beard in the throat, but it is definitely tangerine.
Anybody know if the orange beard on SHIRE is tangerine or if it just "looks" orange? If it really is "pink", then it sounds like RENOWN and its parent MATRIX both carry tangerine factor. Did everybody but me know that already? ;-) > SHIRE (Donald Spoon, R. 2005) Sdlg. 97-285A. TB, 34" (86 cm), EM & RE S. creamy tan; F. darker creamy tan and pink blend, white area around beard; beards white tipped yellow orange; ruffled. Matrix X Renown. Winterberry 2005.
